I had to upgrade my monster computer to Windows 8 the other day and I have successfully installed about half of my EPs so far. In the Pets EP, why isn't there an interaction for cats to jump up between a Sim and their computer while they're chatting, gaming, etc?

Please note that this question is in NO WAY prompted by that little fuzzball in the icon...

Will new dogs and cats spontaneously generate with the crazy coat colors and patterns? I've unlocked all of them, but I hardly ever create pets. Will I ever see purple strays? Or are the unlockables like custom content that isn't "townified"?

I tried the Google, but I can't seem to find anything about this specific issue I'm having.

So, I'm playing a house where I'm just letting the sims do whatever, and not controlling them (for the lulz, though I got the idea somewhere else). Anyway, I have come across a problem with them not feeding themselves.

For Christmas this year, I was thinking about asking for/buying the Pets EP, but with all the hullabaloo about SecuRom and such I want to make sure that I'm not going to invest in something that could ruin my seven-month-old computer.
